Helsinki Dance Company and internationally acclaimed Hungarian choreographer Adrienn Hód invite the audience on a unique exploration of the human body and spirit.

Known for her innovative works, Hód challenges cultural boundaries, striving to liberate the person and the body from taboos and prejudices. Hód approaches the stage as a playground, constantly discovering new dance forms and dramaturgical principles. She seeks new ways to create connections between performers and spectators.

In her work Project No. 2191, she focuses on the performers’ bodies as a form of archive. During the creative process HDC’s radiant dancers bring in their diverse professional knowledge and histories, their own interests, drives, individual performance and movement qualities. A self-reflective performance emerges from these and touches on questions such as: Who are these seven dancers now? What histories are inscribed in their bodies? What does it mean to dance at different stages of life? What drives them? Where does their passion lie? What does movement give them personally? Can freedom be experienced within the structures of theatre? Can we maintain dance as a live, ephemeral art form that exists only in the moment? Can we give space to the present?

The piece unfolds to the viewer as a radical field of play, leading to unexpected discoveries, like moving through a labyrinth guided by energy and intuition. It inspires, challenges, and transforms the spectator. Together, the creative team and dancers push the boundaries of dance and explore the depths of human expression. Or as Hód describes it, “people happening in front of other people”.
