cabaret (noun)
1. A often humorous live entertainment show; a performance consisting of solo acts, jokes, and short scenes, typically tied together by a presenter’s commentary. The audience enjoys the cabaret. On New Year’s Eve, the television often broadcasts a cabaret. Political humor is often present in cabaret shows.
2. A theater where humorous performances are regularly staged; a stage set up in a smaller room or building in front of rows of seats. The audience fills the cabaret every evening. The cabaret is a popular social venue.
3. In a figurative sense: A ridiculous scene that, due to its unusual oddities, might also provoke rejection. The situation that developed in the director’s office turned into more of a cabaret than a business meeting. It became a full cabaret as the two leaders argued.
